bk.oneéphémérité With her current solo exhibition "éphémérité", Birgit Kaulfuß is dedicating herself to the photographic exploration of transience in its many manifestations. In 39 works - including series and individual images - she combines staged portraits, atmospheric landscape shots and still lifes of dried flowers to create a multi-layered tableau of the ephemeral. The portraits appear artificial, almost sculptural. In them, BK not only questions the person depicted, but also the momentary nature of the photographic medium itself. They show people in the field of tension between representation and withdrawal, presence and fading. In contrast, there are broad landscape motifs and reduced still lifes of dried flowers, in which the theme of "éphémérité" - the ephemeral - is reflected in pure form: Beauty and decay, structure and dissolution lie close together here. The photographic works combine a classical conception of the image with a contemporary sensibility. BK is not interested in the spectacle of disappearance, but in its quiet echo - traces of what has been, fragile states between becoming and passing away. "éphémérité" is a concentrated look at the irretrievable - in form, content and photographic attitude.
