Ethics Training - Would it be wrong to promise someone that you would try to influence contracting if someone handed you $50,000.00 in a CAVA bag? Before you answer, there is a video.

Tom Homan took 50,000.00 from FBI folks posing as contractors. He promised to help them with contracting in the new administration. We don't know much more than that. Did he give the money back? Who knew about it? Should the public have known before he was confirmed?

Non-Political Action Still Safe for Scared Feds

You can boycott any business you want, and tell them why you're boycotting. A crazy billionaire bought the 2024 election. Stop supporting crazy billionaires and their satellites. You can cancel certain streaming services. You can stop buying from the big A. You can get your local government to only support non-religious regional hospitals and services. Catholic hospitals are denying birth control and care to women everywhere. You can expose a cult before it runs the nation. Financially support CSA truth-in-sunshine websites exposing the corruption of a certain intermountain state religion, whose racist, misogynist governor is trying to portray himself as a anti-violence moderate in a bid to be the first --- president. You can run for school board or at least attend meetings. Keep an eye on the religious hypocrites trying to ban sex ed, black history, and all things promoting equality. Other ideas?

No telework has been extremely efficient

Posting because i can do literally nothing else at work. Our office hasn't had internet in 3 days. FS wireless is completely non existent. We have TWO additional wifi networks that we pay for because the gov network is so unreliable and both do not work. I have been sitting at my desk on my phone for 3 days (24 work hours at GS11 pay) not allowed to go home or anywhere else to get work done. Haven't been able to respond to emails (contractor quotes have been ignored), can't open an excel sheet, can't open a word document. Anyone at the WO able to explain to me the efficiency of this?

How to get ORA login assignment

I took DRP 2.0. I have been reading about the system you need access to for requesting retirement. I am Fed with approximately 35 years of service and past MRA. Office didn’t know what I was talking about. Do I need to send my “old” office my SF3107 to kick the process and get access to ORA? Help is much appreciated!

Check up on the status of Project 2025 and impacts on federal services

It was a year ago that this undercover video was released about Russel Vought's Project 2025 and his strategy to implement it. I think it's useful to check in and see where we are as it has made significant progress and yet this has not gained much attention in the media. This coverage was by climate-reporting.org/undercov and an informative video presented here youtu.be/UQjdwsZhE_Q?si=3N7WHC

Trump’s FAA chief on Russ Vought: “Everybody’s told me he’s a really scary guy.”

In Crooked Media’s What A Day newsletter:Trump’s top civil aviation official denounced DOGE’s cost-cutting mission, and said his agency needs to be built up instead, according to exclusive reporting by What A Day. It’s a fresh sign of just how unpopular DOGE has become. Critics have long warned that DOGE, the federal cost-cutting operation established by gazillionaire Elon Musk, was doing far more harm than good. Sure, the government should be more efficient. But DOGE’s cuts were so deep, so haphazard, and so non-transparent that they prompted concerns about safety — in particular, that the basics of American life could become more dangerous because DOGE fired too many of the people who normally watch over them. Today, a top Trump official joined the chorus of DOGE critics — at least, from behind closed doors. That would be Federal Aviation Administration chief Bryan Bedford, who told staffers during a private town hall that DOGE’s cuts are the last thing his agency needs as it scrambles to improve airline safety. “I’m not here to DOGE the FAA, okay? That is not my gig. That’s not what the president asked me to do,” Bedford said in the meeting, which What A Day attended. “The president asked to fix it. Whatever resources you need, let's get it fixed. Let's fix it right? Let's build a new system. Spare no expense.” Instead, Bedford listed DOGE among the many challenges facing the agency, along with “equipment struggles” and “reliability problems.” He continued: “It’s a very unsettling time, when we actually need to be more focused than ever about carrying out our mission.”Bedford’s remarks amount to a repudiation of DOGE, after FAA jobs cuts prompted an exodus from the agency and concerns about air safety in the wake of deadly crashes earlier this year. Bedford, a longtime airline CEO who lied for years about having his commercial pilot’s license, seemed focused on a new mission: Boost the morale that Trump’s top lackeys have demolished. “Anybody who thinks, ‘Oh gosh, efficiency is going to mean fewer jobs,’ just isn’t paying attention.” Bedford said. “The agency has got a huge growth mission ahead of it.”Bedford promised that there won’t be a “willy-nilly” reorganization of the agency — even as he lobbies other Trump officials who may want to keep cutting. The FAA is planning to overhaul decades-old equipment that’s often blamed for airplane communication issues and malfunctions. Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” sets aside $12.5 billion for that effort, which aviation workers say is not nearly enough. Tomorrow, Bedford said he’s meeting with Office of Management and Budget chief Russ Vought to talk numbers.“Everybody’s told me he’s a really scary guy,” Bedford said. “But look, the facts, I think, are on our side here.” Vought has been leading the charge to cement DOGE’s cuts to the federal government… so this meeting could be pretty tense. That’s not to mention Vought is, in fact, an intimidating dude: He’s a Project 2025 architect, has been described as a “bull in a china shop,” and is one of MAGA’s most influential figures. The system needs a complete overhaul, and that’s the message he plans to deliver to Vought: “I think every job is important and necessary,” Bedford said. “I just want to make it clear that I’m not going to cut costs or reduce the staff.” The FAA didn’t respond to What A Day’s request for comment. One participant asked the chief: Can we stop DOGE’s infamous “five things” email? “We can stop that, yes, for sure,” Bedford replied, echoing the White House’s new policy. “I wasn’t reading them anyways.”Tweet: x.com/mattberg33/status/195323: crooked.com/daily/Link to article: manage.kmail-lists.com/subscri

I decided to expand this one out because I ran out of room to finish my argument here on the blog. I wrote about why a recent OPM memo allowing Christian Nationalists to attempt to convert their federal coworkers is a disturbing sign that may point to what the Trump regime's next excuse for a fascist crusade will be - combatting "anti-Christian bias" (by doing more fascism!)

Nina-Bytes: Dark Omens of a New Crusade

"There will of course be folks who accuse me of overreacting when I say this new guidance is clearly the on ramp for the official adoption of Christian Nationalism as a state ideology, but I think even a cursory reading of what OPM Director Scott Kupor just released here demonstrates that this has nothing to do with workplace tolerance, or freedom of religion. In addition to allowing religious iconography, and public prayer, Kupor also wants government employees to be able to display “posters” with “religious messages” and solicit participation from even non-Christian employees in group expressions of religious sentiment. So what happens when your evangelical nazi co-worker puts up a poster saying “God hates queers?” How about when your Christian Nationalist supervisor calls “the team” together for a group prayer asking Jesus to protect the chosen one, Donald J. Trump? If you have to ask those questions, you’re clearly not understanding the policy; remember, laws, rights, and rules have no dominion over fascists in power, and only serve to bind or oppress their enemies."

Nina Illingworth Dot Com | "When the revolution is for everyone, everyone will be for the revolution" · Nina-Bytes: Dark Omens of a New Crusade | on NIDCNina talks about how a recent, barely noticed OPM federal workplace guidance may signal the next fundie fascist crusade the Trump regime intends to conduct.

Life beyond Federal civil service for early to mid career?

The job market is saturated with Feds leaving civil service right now and even contractors/consulting companies seem to be taking a wait-and-see approach while this glacial back-and-forth plays out. If you’re lucky enough to have a found a role outside Federal civil service, do you plan to come back given everything that is being done to strip the remaining benefits associated with it as a career? Specifically asking for those earlier in their careers with too far from retirement but significant investment their career with the plan to retire from civil service like people were able to in the past.State and local governments are so reliant on federal funding getting cut across the board and remaining funds are heavily scrutinized before being clawed back. Educational and research institutions are paralyzed in hiring decisions as they also wait-and-see how their funding is affected. So what now? Go get a CDL? Try to become an electrician or plumber? Genuinely curious how people are approaching this when there is theoretically enough time to change career directions?

The editors said they had also added data from an Aug 2024 study by the #OMB, which found that 54% of the #FederalWorkforce was required to show up at an office every day. According to the study, just 10% of federal employees worked exclusively from home. Those allowed to have hybrid schedules ended up spending an average of 60% of their work time at federal offices.

In the world of #journalism, this is how editors try to address egregious misreadings of their work.
