Şuayb, our beautiful friend and man capable of any job, was abducted in international waters, while trying to bring food and medicine to Palestinians in #Gaza. The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, in collaboration with the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, invites journalists and media outlets to a joint press conference spotlighting the voices of Palestinian journalists and international volunteers aboard the civilian aid ship Madleen.

This press event will center the experiences and testimonies of Palestinian journalists under siege in Gaza, many of whom have been directly targeted and assassinated for exposing Israel’s ongoing genocide. The conversation will also include international human rights defenders aboard Madleen, who are sailing to Gaza, challenging Israel’s illegal blockade and calling for justice and safe passage.

Latest update from Freedom flotilla: Israel’s Defense Minister has once again threatened unlawful force against civilians, attempting to justify violence with baseless smears. We will not be intimidated.

The '#Madleen' is a peaceful civilian vessel, unarmed and sailing in international waters with humanitarian aid and human rights defenders. This mission is independent, guided only by conscience and solidarity with Gaza.

We are currently about 160 nautical miles from Gaza. Earlier signal jamming briefly disrupted our location, but our tracker is functioning again. We remain calm and prepared in the face of possible Israeli aggression.

We call on world governments to demand Israel stand down. It has no right to obstruct our mission or enforce its illegal and brutal blockade.

"CATANIA, Italy (#AP) — Climate campaigner #GretaThunberg and other 11 activists set sail on Sunday afternoon for #Gaza on a ship aimed at “breaking #Israel’s siege” of the devastated territory, organizers said.

The sailing boat Madleen – operated by activist group #FreedomFlotillaCoalition — departed from the Sicilian port of Catania, in southern Italy.

It will try to reach the shores of the Gaza Strip in an effort to bring in some aid and raise “international awareness” over the ongoing humanitarian crisis, the activists said at a press conference on Sunday, ahead of departure."
