Please, please, please stop putting unrelated hashtags in your posts to artificially widen the audience. It will only get you muted or blocked on a large scale.
@FediTips
you know this but for everyone else reading:
if you ever *don't* want your post 10 comments down in a silly thread to go global, you can turn that off with the quiet public option
everyone can still see your post, but they have to dive into the thread it's in to find it, they won't see it pop up in their feed
important caveat:
you can not edit this option after you submit your post
You may consider hosting your social data out of the USA.
Here is a search tool of Mastodon instances that filters on country:
https://mastodon.fediverse.observer/list
For those of you who understand how Website verification in Mastodon works, can you look at this and tell me why it's not working? I keep expecting a checkmark to show up on my profile page, but one never does. Thanks!
@FediTips any ideas?
Mastodon Tip:
Replies aren’t tucked away like on other platforms—they’re full posts. Your comments can appear in timelines, get boosted, and be seen by people outside the thread.
Write replies like you're part of a public conversation—because you are.

Mastodon Pro Tip: Ever miss "that good post" you made a while back? Just search for it! Type in the search bar:
from:me word
And there it is.
Put this in search field:
has:video from:@shoppingtonz
Hey fediverse, you got better ways to search for videos on the fediverse?(FediVideo)
I think this may even beat Sepia Search! (to some degree)
My Lemmy use case from Mastodon:
1. Create a list
2. Search for @lemmy.world and @lemm.ee
3. Add your preferred communities
This makes it easy to follow, comment, and interact with topics from a single list.
