Made my first paid #woodworking project! The clients had done a remodel and had a bunch of 100-yo douglas fir studs lying around and wanted a dining table. I used a sacrificial table saw blade to slice through any old forged nails i couldn't pull.

Effective immediately and definitively, I no longer use scotch brite pads and similar in my #restorations, #woodworking, or anything else. These products fall apart into plastic dust as they are used, going straight into the environment.

There is a global #microplastics problem. And with the new study released about them accumulating in our brains, as well other organs, well…

We need to do better since corporations & governments won’t. The onus is on us.

Steel wool for the win!

Sideboard update! Dry fit. The doors need trimmed which could be tricky and I am all out of this veneer so if I make another mistake I will need to make a whole new carcass. I have learned *so much* along the way that this isn’t as bad as it sounds. If I had veneered both sides of everything before I started assembling I would have a more accurate finish on all of it. #WoodWorking #Miniatures #No52 #DollsHouse 1/3

I was kicked out of the house for an afternoon last week, so I popped into the shop and made this wooden car toy for my 1-year old grandson. I tried to make it look like his dad's SUV.

I gave it to him during our visit yesterday. His face immediately lit up and he began playing with it, making the appropriate "zoom-zoom" sounds as he pushed it around on the floor.

I'm still smiling thinking about it - made my day!

Back 6 of my Anarchist’s Workbench glued up. First time doing this sort of glue up, but I think it went well. The weekend was spent milling the pieces for the top to dimension. Just had time to get the first part glued before finishing for the day. Clamps come off tomorrow.

Going a little off the plan since I did decide to build a tail vise into the top as a part of the build.

Very exciting to have finally started this build.

Update: Solved!

Does anyone know what this plane is for? This is one of the few old French planes I can’t figure. It’s called a ‘rabot à élégir’, I think, which isn’t helpful.

There are no nickers, so it seems to be for use with the grain only. But beyond that all I can figure are fixed-width dados (width of blade) or fixed-depth rebates (height of shoulders), both of which would seem to require additional guides to keep a line. Doesn’t make sense.
