@BenHigbie my mom just started taking quilting classes. I hope to have time to quilt in the future but I’m too absorbed by pottery at the moment. We just went and saw a #GeesBend artist talk and exhibition at a local museum.
I went to see an artist talk today with #GeesBend quilters Loretta Pettway and Louisiana Bendolph. I’ve adored their quilts for years and I feel affirmed by their presence in the art world—very laid back, no artist statements or artspeak, prioritizing fun and feeling good over technical perfection. Just very humbly making these amazing abstract expressionist quilts without even setting out to do so. #BlackArt #Americana #quilting
