Today we worked on building the core backend infrastructure for a cloud-native insurance platform. Key points:
Modular microservices architecture based on NestJS
PostgreSQL schemas designed for flexibility — no hardcoded values, all dynamic
Using TypeScript with ESM modules for better code organization
Setting up communication patterns between backend and Next.js frontend
Focus on scalability and simplicity in cloud deployment
This lays a solid foundation for a system built from scratch to replace legacy solutions and support future growth.

I have been pretty happy using #Deno ✨ for my projects lately. It's replaced #Node, NPM, ESLint, Prettier and Jest for me, because it has all of those features by itself. The package manager in particular is so much nicer than NPM!

There are a couple minor issues when using it with #NextJS, but the team has been hard at work ironing those out, and it keeps getting better with each release. I highly recommend you to give Deno a shot!

Coming from a background of using raw SQL along with ActiveRecord, I’ve noticed that default Prisma caters to JavaScript over other established standards. Ensuring database table columns are snake_case along with creating associations that are lowercase and plural doesn’t come for free but Prisma does provide a way to configure these within your schema.

The DX of #React server functions is just too good to pass up, and next-safe-action solves the scaling concerns I had. Plus, this is the direction the industry is moving in, and I don't want to be stuck in the past 😁
