@GeePawHill #mbin has the same issue, and it's a Fediverse service. So it's not just BSky.

In this post, I walked through some standout Fediverse software - Mastodon, Lemmy, PeerTube, PixelFed, Sharkey, Mbin & more. As well as how they give you actual control over your content.

Also: i talk up the idea of #Lemmy and #Mbin and #Piefed and the #Threadiverse in the idea on surfacing content...
Much of that idea was spurred by this from Piefed on it's potential feed format that can pull in multiple other community fediverse acocunts into one feed:
https://join.piefed.social/2025/04/30/how-piefed-federates-feeds-aka-multi-reddits-or-multi-comms/
And would love to hear what @rimu thinks of my riffing on this for discovery fedi wide, and if he had notes.
I think Lemmy, Mbin and Piefed will soon see an influx of new users.
Reddit is going to use Sam Altmans sketchy iris-scanning "Orb" to verify users.
What in the Black Mirror is this shit?

I really like the idea of this #Lemmy community: https://feddit.online/c/dadforaminute@lemmy.world . I wish it were more active.
Most on the Fediverse can follow it at, and post to it at: @dadforaminute
Note. Those on my Friendica instance can't access lemmy.world because the 240K requests per day coming in from Lemmy instances overwhelmed the server and the database, and I had to block Lemmy. Friendica just can't handle it.
With lemm.ee, I believe the 2nd largest #Lemmy instance, shutting down in a few weeks, some of their more active users have moved to my #PieFed server (feddit.online). Tonight I need to double the memory on the app server. And the DB server that was idling at 23% CPU until this morning is now 100% since late morning. I need to maybe scale it up as well.
I know piefed.social scaled up yesterday, and they've been much harder hit than I have. I wonder how other #Lemmy and #MBIN servers are being impacted by this. Anyone know?

Sad to see another #Fediverse instance disappear, this time a larger #Lemmy server with over 5.5K monthly active users. Bye Lemm.ee, and thanks for being pioneers!
Anyone who has an account on lemm.ee, you have less than a month to move or close it. Remember too, there are two other alternatives to Lemmy that you might consider. #Piefed (https://join.piefed.social/try/) and #MBIN (https://joinmbin.org/)
@fedidb well done and a good new contact point for interested people
Good advice is certainly not possible on the basis of a single question, but it is a good start.
The details certainly need to be improved, for example:
If you select ‘Forum Discussions’ for ‘What type of content do you want to see or share?’, #NodeBB, Lemmy, mbin, #Piefed and #Lotide are then recommended. That fits well.
But if you select ‘Social Media Post + ’Forum Discussions", #Mastodon , #Misskey and other microblogging services are recommended, as well as #Lemmy. But not #mbin, which actually offers exactly this combination, and also not #Friendica, which can do micro-/macroblogging, but also offers forums/groups and events and federates best with both directions.
When we made a post asking about Lemmy instances, we got so many replies for not only #Lemmy instances but also about #MBin and #PieFed! Thanks for your support!
We ultimately ended up choosing https://lemm.ee as the instance for our official community. You can join it here: https://lemm.ee/c/TenacityAudio. Please spread the word far and wide to let everyone know that we have an official place of discussion again! This has been a long time in the making and it's finally here!
