Back in early march I was lucky enough to share the #fossbackstage stage with Christoph (https://github.com/GBKS) of https://bitcoin.design/ to speak about contributing to the https://opendesign.guide/
I've personally created resources through my many OSS roles to help designers new to OSS get involved but the opendesign.guide evolved that work into something co-created and community owned.

Talk blurb:
Designers often have a hard time seeing open-source as a place they might be comfortable in. So we are building a 12-chapter guide to make these journeys easier. It starts with a basic introduction to open-source, the role of design, how to get started, up to more advanced topics. The ambition is that the guide can be used for solo learning, group learning, and educational environments. It's a 100% open-source project, fully built in public. We are hoping to present it to you in this presentation, open up the space for conversation and feedback, and welcome contributions.
In Feb 2025 the https://opensourcedesign.net/ team applied for a devroom to host speakers on design in OSS topics and we succeeded in welcoming 8 fantastic speakers to Brussels in Feb 2025

Here's some comments we had from attendees of the Open Source Design Devroom in 2025.
More FOSDEM 2025 - quotes from folks who visited the devroom!
"I've been coming to FOSDEM for 10 years and the open source design devroom is the best room"
"I'm looking to change from software development to UX design and I didn't think it was possible until after this Dev room"
"The open source design devroom is one of the most accessible devrooms in terms of topic. I might not understand design in the same way as designers but I can always understand and appreciate the topics in the room"
Of course we did have some other comments like wanting better accessibility options for those with hearing and sight impairments. We're looking into what we might be able to do ahead of FOSDEM 2026 to be more inclusive.
