Pretty intense thunderstorm with plenty of small hail passed through my part of Boulder county a bit ago. The hail did not appear to do any damage to the new plants (or cars). Minor street flooding but it is all clear now.

Yet another dust storm over the southeast half of New Mexico, far west Texas, the Texas panhandle, Oklahoma panhandle, extending into Colorado and Kansas.

The dust is coming from prehistoric lake beds in northern Chihuahua, Mexico:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Pal

"Presently its basin is a major source of airborne dust in the region."

With the severe drought conditions in this region, it takes far weaker winds to create these dust storms compared to previous decades. Visibility at my house is less than 1/2 mile.

Note that the dust is tan, but that the gypsum dust from White Sands is paler. A fire is burning in northeast Sonora, Mexico...the smoke plume is bluish. A fire develops in central New Mexico (Rio Grande valley, town of Socorro) at the end of the animation loop. app.watchduty.org/i/47153

Snow will continue this evening, especially south of I-70. Warm temperatures will continue to limit impacts, but some roads above 8000 feet will be slushy at times. Several more inches of snow are expected in the mountains and foothills from I-70 southward and around Monument Hill, with little or no accumulation and minimal impacts elsewhere.

Thursday will start mild, dry, and windy especially in areas along and south of I-70. This will lead to critical fire weather conditions and a Red Flag Warning is in effect. Note that the Denver metro and eastward to Bennett are still in a Fire Weather Watch as there is uncertainty as to when a strong cold front will move through the area.
