There are stories are out there about a massive cut to the Women and Gender Identity Dept over the next two years. So far Carney doesn’t appear to be blamed (I’ve not checked Rebel News) but there’s a reasonable explanation:
“The decrease in funding in 2027-28 planned spending is mainly due to the current planned end of time-limited funding from:
° Budget 2022 to work with provinces and territories to implement the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence.
° Budget 2022 to renew the 2SLGBTQI+ Projects Fund.
° 2024 Fall Economic Statement for the Menstrual Equity Fund.”

Graph 1 shows how the six year funding plan for WAGE since 2022-23 was set up.
This does not preclude an additional 15% being cut as other departments are be required to do. The fall budget will provide clarity.

As of today, the UK government has achieved something that no other country has managed despite years of research:
making it illegal to be British on the internet
NewsGuard, a company that aims to help identify reliable news sources, has stopped using the labels 'misinformation' and 'disinformation' as they were politicized and partisan. They now explain whether a claim is '[...] explicitly false, AI-generated, unsubstantiated or manipulated'.
