Here’s how #deepfake #vishing #attacks work, and why they can be hard to detect

By now, you’ve likely heard of fraudulent calls that use #AI to #clone the voices of people the call recipient knows. Often, the result is what sounds like a grandchild, CEO, or work colleague you’ve known for years reporting an urgent matter requiring immediate action, saying to wire money, divulge login credentials, or visit a malicious website.

Ars Technica · Here’s how deepfake vishing attacks work, and why they can be hard to detectBy Dan Goodin

This combination of #Hamas #terrorism, violent gang #attacks, typical #Israeli red tape, and an incompetent #UN distribution effort is resulting in the starvation of the #Gazan population.

Journalists and others imagine a UN that efficiently protects communities by providing food and other basic needs. Anybody who has actually worked with them, however, knows that they’re an absurd bureaucracy more interested in defending their image than in helping people on the ground.

I’m not saying #Israel couldn’t do better: it can and it must. But there’s little doubt here that the UN, Gaza gangs, and Hamas #terrorists are a significant part of the problem. And let’s recall that #Egypt, too, shares a border with their #Arab brethren in Gaza.

Pointing the finger at Israel, and only Israel, is designed to further isolate the #Jewish state, and not to seek any actual solution to the plight of starving Gazan children. apnews.com/article/aid-gaza-hu

AP News · A look at why hundreds of truckloads of aid for Gaza are sitting at the borderThe United Nations and experts say that Palestinians in Gaza are at risk of famine, with reports of increasing numbers of people dying from causes related to malnutrition. Yet Israel says hundreds of truckloads of aid are waiting for pickup on the border. It says it allows enough aid into the territory and faults delivery efforts by U.N. agencies for not doing enough to get it to those in need. The U.N. says it’s unable to bring in enough aid to Gaza as it is hindered by Israeli restrictions and a breakdown of security.

“It is apparent to us that quite a large number of #cyber #attacks never get reported to the #NCSC and we have reason to believe that two major cyber attacks in the last four months have gone unreported. We think that’s a big deficit in our knowledge as to what is happening."
