In the 1600s, Amsterdam was a busy port full of traders. Some sailors took a darker path though… They raided ships or smuggled goods, and then sold them quietly in the city’s backstreets and taverns. ⚓️☠️

One of the most feared was Laurens de Graaf, born in the “Dutch Republic”. He terrorized the Caribbean, attacking Spanish ships and towns. The Spanish nicknamed him “El Gran Diablo”—the Great Devil. 😈

Dionysus, in this case portrayed in sprayaint under the Metroline, once found the drunken Silenos and kindly returned him to King Midas. As thanks, Midas was granted a wish—but foolishly chose for everything he touched to turn to gold. 🚇🍇

Another time, pirates kidnapped Dionysus, thinking he was just a rich traveler. He turned their ship into a jungle of vines, became a lion, and scared them overboard—where they turned into dolphins. 🦁 🐬🐬

Eros Blog almost never goes viral. Here's one of the rare exceptions: I found a 1982 feature in Porn Stars magazine called "Future Vid-Sex Games: Porn Stars Predict Tomorrow’s Turn-Ons" with mockups of imagined porn games. It went REAL big on 2020 Twitter. BoingBoing and other places picked it up. Closer to viral than Eros Blog ever gets.
